One of the most important features of the church is the central location of the font. A distinctive facet of the font is that the outlet is the exact centre of the building in length, breadth and height. Although in most churches the font is placed at the entrance, since baptism represents entry into a Christian life, at St John’s the visitor, walking past the font and up to the altar, metaphorically passes through the waters of baptism and rises to the altar of salvation.
