At the north end of the hall was a stage, and another of the hall’s many uses was for the Saturday night dance. The building became both a
spiritual centre and a social one. The hall was in constant use as the parish
grew, so individual or quiet worship became impossible. It was felt that the
estate needed a building devoted for worship and so in 1959 the way was opened
for plans for a new church. The church hall is still a multipurpose building,
and is used frequently.
