Perhaps the most striking
feature of the church is the
magnificent window on the
east wall, above the sanctuary.
It was designed and made (between 1962 & 1963), by Keith New then a lecturer at The Royal College of Art. With the help
of one of his students from the stained glass department of the College, the
glass was cut and assembled in one of the large studios loaned by the RCA. It
is almost totally abstract in conception. New felt that the scale and mood of
the glass, growing out of and enhancing the space was the most important aspect
of his design. This he achieved mainly through the use of bright and solid
blocks of colour.
