Last Tuesday’s meeting of the PCC was the first following our annual meeting and welcomed Tina Clark to the PCC and Paul Cartwright back to the PCC after a year off. We spent some time establishing ground rules for PCC members and then considered the results of an insurance inspection that we had earlier in the year. The PCC were pleased to note that the action required has largely been implemented. This involved:
The PCC expressed its thanks to Tabitha Holt for all her hard work for this. We also noted that the main notice board for the church had been removed for updating.
We received an up to date financial report from David, our treasurer. We have been faced with a number of large bills all at once (partly arising from the insurance requirements) but we have been able to maintain our payments for the parish share.
We then considered what we might do with the bequest money we received earlier this year. Several suggestions have been made for use of this money, and these are listed below:
We can’t do everything, especially as we want to put some money aside for the future. PCC members are going to give Fr Stephen a list indicating their priorities. If you would also like indicate what you think are the priorities, please have a word with me.
Fr Stephen thanked the PCC for allowing him time to go on sabbatical. Following that time, some aspects of his work have now been devolved to other people as follows:
The PCC agreed to appoint a parish safeguarding officer to work with Paul Cartwright, our vulnerable adult and child protection officer. Cay Sherlock offered to fill this role and will be working with Paul on our policies and monitoring of this important side of church life. A plea was also made for more help with flower arranging in church.
We also agreed to purchase a plaque to remember Joyce Blythe, and, following representation from several people, we also agreed that our used stamps will now go towards raising money for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. We noted that we had not decided on charity for this year so the congregation will be asked to suggest charities over the next few weeks.
